Doug Herman was hired by the City Council in June 2006 to serve as Monticello City Administrator. Prior to his appointment as City Administrator, Doug served as Monticello City Attorney.
The City Administrator is vested with the responsibility to ensure that policies, directives, resolutions, and ordinances adopted by the City Council are enforced and implemented. As the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Herman is responsible for providing executive level leadership, vision and guidance to the organization, providing recommendations to the City Council and implementing policy directives in an efficient and effective manner. In addition, he is responsible for preparing and administering the budget, planning the development of the City, supervising City employees, interacting with citizen groups and other units of government, and is otherwise responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City of Monticello.
Mr. Herman graduated from Luther College (BBA) in 1990 and earned his Juris Doctorate (JD)from Hamline University in June 2004 after two years of study at Hamline and one year at the University of Iowa College of Law.
