Scheduling Joint meeting of Council and School Board for purposes of public comment on the Childcare project.

WHEREAS, A request has been made that a joint meeting of the School Board, City Council, and those interested in the planned Childcare project be scheduled, and

WHEREAS, The City Council finds that said meeting may be scheduled on August 19, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, and that the format of the meeting shall be as follows:

1). The meeting is an opportunity for your position to be heard, not to debate, and all comments shall be directed to the Council and Board.

2). The meeting shall conclude by no later than 8:30 p.m.

3). Opening Statements shall be made by the Childcare Committee and the Registered Provider Committee, with each side being given 15 minutes each, with a five (5) minutes rebuttal period per side to follow.

4). Thereafter, speakers will be allowed both “pro” and “con”, alternating, with each speaker being allowed three (3) minutes to make their comments.

5). Speakers shall be allowed to speak only once during the meeting, and for no more than three (3) minutes. A timer will be used and speakers will be required to stop at the conclusion of their three (3) minute comment period.

6). At the conclusion of the comment period, the Council and the School Board shall be given twenty (20) minutes, in total, to ask questions, if any, of any of the participants.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a joint meeting of the Monticello City Council and the Monticello Community School District shall be held on the 19th day of August, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Monticello City Council chambers, said meeting to follow the format set out above herein.
