Approving Letter of Support for 6th Street Watershed Grant Application
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello is interested and desirous of taking steps to alleviate flooding concerns within the City of Monticello, and
WHEREAS, the 6th Street Ditch Watershed has long been a concern for residents living adjacent to the Ditch during times of heavy localized rain and related flash flooding, and
WHEREAS, the City finds that working with the Jones Soil and Water Conservation District on the proposed IJOBS Grant Application related to the possible construction of a detention facility just outside of town, to catch and detain storm water that would normally find its’ way to the 6th Street watershed during heavy rainfall events would be of great potential benefit to the City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the inclusion of a letter of support from the City as part of the Grant Application would be appropriate, and further finds that the letter as proposed by the City Administrator, that has been deemed acceptable and appropriate by the Jones Soil and Water Cons. District, is appropriate for inclusion.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 5th day of October 2009, that the City Council does hereby confirm its’ support for the 6th Street Watershed Grant Application and further authorizes the submission of the Letter of Support prepared and signed by the City Administrator as an attachment to said Application.
