RESOLUTION 10-05
Authorizing the hiring of Micah Roberts as a regular Part-Time Police Officer with the Monticello Police Department, after consideration and discussion of applicability of the City of Monticello Nepotism Policy as set out in the City of Monticello Conflict of Interest, Code of Ethics, Gift Policy as approved by City Council Resolutions #07-150 and #08-02.
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello, Iowa is an incorporated City within Jones County, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello has previously approved a policy covering the issue of Nepotism, and
WHEREAS, the City Council, under said policy, must approve of the hiring of an employee who is related to another employee of the City, and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief desires to hire Micah Roberts as a regular PT officer, already having Micah’s brother, Corey Roberts, as a FT officer of the department, and
WHEREAS, the Police Chief, has during the course of the consideration of this Resolution explained to the City Council his reason(s) for requesting and recommending the Council’s approval of the hiring of Micah Roberts as a regular PT Officer.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Monticello, Iowa does hereby, after a full and complete consideration of the City Nepotism Policy, and the comments and recommendations of the Chief of Police, does hereby approve of the hiring of Micah Roberts as a regular PT officer of the City of Monticello Police Department.
