IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #10-119
Resolution approving tentative appointment of Britt Smith as Chief of Police, pending completion of paperwork related to job descriptions, contract and ordinances, with an anticipated appointment date of November 1, 2010.
WHEREAS, the City Council previously appointed Britt Smith as interim Chief of Police with a plan to review that appointment after the passage of ninety (90) days, and
WHEREAS, ninety days has passed and the Council finds it appropriate, with the Mayor’s approval, to tentatively appoint Britt Smith as Chief of Police, with the final, formal, appointment anticipated to be made at the first Regular Council Meeting in November, 2010, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the formal appointment should be so delayed so that final approvals of recently developed job descriptions and reporting responsibilities related to the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, City Administrator, and Chief of Police can be approved and an employment agreement negotiated with Britt Smith.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby tentatively appoint Britt Smith as Chief of Police with the formal appointment to be delayed so that final approvals of recently developed job descriptions and reporting responsibilities related to the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, City Administrator, and Chief of Police can be approved and an employment agreement negotiated with Britt Smith, with the anticipated formal appointment of Britt Smith to be made at the first regular council meeting in November, 2010.
