IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #10-150
Resolution Pledging $50,000, over three years, to Jones
County Extension Building Project.
WHEREAS, The Council has heretofore on various occasions voiced their support for the Jones County Extension building project, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the facility, to be largely funded by donated “private” funds and grant proceeds will be of great benefit to many youth organizations of the community, by providing them with modern, available, and free meeting space, and
WHEREAS, The Council further finds that the facility will house, under present staffing, at least four (4) FT staff from the Extension Office, in addition to PT and/or temporary employees and fair employees, and
WHEREAS, The Council further finds that the facility will be of significant economic advantage to the community inasmuch as the Extension services will bring thousands of people, using their services, to the community on an annual basis, and
WHEREAS, Based upon the positive impacts that the facility will have on the community, the Council finds it appropriate to invest in the project as follows:
1. The donation of the ground within the City Park, with a minimum value of $25,000.
2. To allow the demolition of the City Maintenance Shed to make way for the new facility; the estimated present market value of the maintenance shed being $25,000.
3. Monetary investment in the project in the amount of $ 50,000, with the first payment to be made when ground is broken for the construction of the facility, with the 2nd payment to be made in the following City of Monticello fiscal year, and the 3rd and final payment to be made in the next City of Monticello fiscal year thereafter. (It is anticipated that the 2nd and 3rd payments will be made in the month of July, the first month of each FY), and
WHEREAS, The financial support of the City is contingent upon project commencement and completion in addition to the final approval of a 28E Agreement by and between the City and the Jones County Fair and Exposition Society, setting out their respective rights and responsibilities with regard to the construction of the facility on City Park grounds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Monticello does hereby pledge City’s financial support in the amount of $100,000, including in – kind and financial (cash) contributions as set out previously herein, with the cash investment to be paid in three equal installments as set out previously herein to the Jones County Extension Building project.
