RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF IJOBS GRANT APPLICATION RELATED TO COMPLETION OF FLOOD PROTECTION LEVEE AT THE MONTICELLO SEWER TREATMENT PLANT
WHEREAS, the during the 2010 Legislative Session, the Iowa Legislature enacted Senate File 2389 (the “Act”), creating the I-Jobs II Program and providing for I-Jobs grant funding to assist in the development and completion of public construction projects relating to disaster prevention; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has identified the protection of the Monticello Sewer Plant from regular flooding as a community need, and
WHEREAS, the cost related to the completion of the proposed flood protection levy would be burdensome on the local taxpayers, and the possibility of obtaining funding for said project through the I-JOBS II program will allow the City to meet the identified need of protecting such vital City infrastructure, and
WHEREAS, the Application has been completed by the City Administrator and must be approved by the City Council prior to its’ submission, the submission of same being required by 11:59 p.m. this evening.
1. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Monticello does hereby approve the I-Jobs II Grant Application related to the Monticello Sewer Plant Flood Protection Levee, and directs the City Administrator to submit said application for funding consideration.
