The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #11-80
Approving Barnhart Roofing Change Order request related to Community Building Roof Project.
WHEREAS, Barnhart Roofing was awarded the contract related to the re-roofing of the Community Building through a competitive bidding process, and
WHEREAS, During the course of the project, Barnhart determined that the roof, thought to hold two layers of shingles, actually had a third layer of shingles, and
WHEREAS, Barnhart Roofing had previously worked on the roof, and believed, based upon past work that the roof only held two layers, and
WHEREAS, Barnhart has requested that the City share in one-half of the additional costs he has incurred as a result of said third layer, said on-half being in the amount of $1,508 and being associated with removal and disposal costs, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the proposal of Barnhart to split the additional costs in the amount of $1,500 to be reasonable and fair under the circumstances, and further recognizes that the City did not provide information related to the number of shingle layers on the roof during the bid process, and that it was not totally unreasonable for Barnhart to have incorrectly determined that there were two (2) layers on the roof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa in session this 16th day of May, 2011, does hereby approve of the Change Order requested by Barnhart Construction in the amount of $1,500, same to be added to the balance of the contract payment that will be due upon completion of the project.
