The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 12-11
Resolution to approve entry into contract with Monk Construction with regard to City owned FBO building renovations.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello is the owner of the Monticello Airport FBO Building, and
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello received an IDOT Vertical Infrastructure Grant in the amount of $65,999 towards the planned renovations, and
WHEREAS, The City Council previously authorized the purchase of the necessary building materials direct from Commander Buildings in the approximate amount of $65,000, and
WHEREAS, The City sought and received competitive quotations related to this project with two being received, one from Monk Construction and one from TRICON Construction, as follows:
1. Monk Construction, Inc. $47,280
2. TRICON Construction $59,800
WHEREAS, The total project cost appears to exceed the original project cost estimate by approximately $10,000, and it is not yet known if the IDOT Aviation Division will fund any additional amount above the current grant amount of $65,999, and
WHEREAS, Time is somewhat of the essence, and the contractor, Monk Construction, is prepared to move forward as soon as possible with this renovation project, and it is believed that fundraised and donated sums will exist to cover the additional project cost should the IDOT not fund any additional portion of this project, or in the alternative, the current FY ’12 City Budget includes an appropriation to the Airport in the amount of $20,000 which could be used to cover any overage should the overage exceed available donated sums.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of the entry into a contract with Monk Construction related to the City FBO Building renovation project and authorizes the City Administrator to enter into a contract with Monk Construction to accomplish said project.
