IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #12-75
Resolution of support for Library Board’s effort to expand public library hours.
WHEREAS, the Library Board has determined, based upon survey data and other public input, that expanded library hours are desired by the public, and
WHEREAS, the Library Board has proposed various work schedules to provide coverage for the expanded hours, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the schedules as proposed would cause a substantial increase in expenses and believes, before a final decision is made on that point, that a committee of council members and library board members along with the Library Director, the City Administrator, and the Mayor should meet over the course of the next 4-6 weeks to fully study the proposal, considering such things as library usage and staffing and community desires, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that an open and accessible public library, meeting the needs and desires of those residents it serves as fiscally responsible as is possible in in the best interests of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby assert its’ support for the Library Board in its’ efforts to expand the Library hours to meet the needs and desires of more citizens and further asserts its’ desire and request of the Library Board to create a committee as suggested herein to fully explore the potential new hours and staffing coverage.
