The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 12- 84
Authorizing the Purchase of a generator for the ERC / Public Safety Building from Altorfer Equipment in the amount of $24,373.77 base bid plus installation related accessory costs in the amount of $8,886.52, for a total cost of $33,260.29, and directing City Staff to seek bids from electricians for the installation of the Generator according to the plans and specifications proposed by Altorfer in conjunction with their generator bid documents.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has been discussing the installation of back-up electric generation for the last couple of years, and
WHEREAS, The Council previously authorized staff to seek bids for the purchase and installation of a generator at the ERC, and
WHEREAS, The City did not receive any bids from contractors to purchase and install a generator as sought by the City, and
WHEREAS, Staff has explored various options for back up generation at the ERC and finds that the purchase of a generator by the City with bids to thereafter be requested for the installation of same, is the appropriate course of action, and
WHEREAS, Staff has been benefited by the assistance of Dave Harris of Altorfer Equipment, Dave having also previously met with the Council early on in this project, and with Dave’s assistance and the assistance of a local electrician, the generator has been sized and the appropriate unit identified for purchase, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds it to be in the best interest of the City to proceed as proposed by staff to purchase the generator from Altorfer Equipment in the amount of $42,761, which represents the gross price, less the agreed upon NJPA discount in the amount of $18,387.23, for a net generator purchase price of $24,373.77 plus installation related accessory costs in the amount of $8,886.52, for a total cost of $33,260.29, and to thereafter seek bids for the installation of said generator at the ERC.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the Police Chief to execute a purchase agreement for the generator as proposed and set out previously herein and to advertise for bids related to the installation of the generator at the ERC as soon as is practical.
