IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #13-75
Resolution to approve the hiring of Ament Design to perform necessary inspections and to prepare “Building Condition Report” associated with the Monticello Community Building.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has bonded sums to see to the renovation and repair of the Monticello Community Building, and
WHEREAS, Some repairs / renovations have occurred, to wit: roof repairs, front door replacement, and repairs to the rear stairway with related lighting and railing updates being presently in the works, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that before proceeding with more substantial repairs or renovations that the City needs to have a complete understanding of the overall building condition, and
WHEREAS, The City has sought proposals from ten (10) engineering firms and received serious interest from two firms, and
WHEREAS, The City Administrator has reviewed proposals from the two interested firms and based thereon recommended the hiring of Ament Design to perform a complete inspection of the Community Building and to issue a “Building Condition Report” upon completion of the various inspections, including asbestos, at a total cost in the range of $5,000 to $7,000, with said costs to be a credit against a design contract should Ament be hired to prepare a design, plans and specifications for any specific project thereafter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize and direct the City Administrator to enter into an agreement with Ament Design to perform necessary inspections and to prepare a Building Condition Report as proposed and described by Ament Design.
