IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #13-91
Resolution to waive portion of Rob Hunt Sewer bill, 430 N. Cedar Street,
Monticello, Iowa in the amount of $303.30
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the property owned by Rob Hunt at 430 N. Cedar Street experienced a much higher than normal water/sewer billing for the period covered by the April and May, 2013 billings, and
WHEREAS, it has been reported that the substantial increase in water usage by Hunt was related to broken pipes during a time when the home was vacant with the heat off, or too low, causing the break in the pipes and resultant leaking, and
WHEREAS, based upon the fact that the leaking water did not receive treatment, as it leaked into a dirt floor basement, seeping away into the earth, the Council finds it appropriate to waive that portion of the sewer billing that exceeds the normal and customary sewer usage by Hunt, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that Hunt’s sewer billing exceeded a good estimate of the normal, vacant, use at said property by $303.30, and
WHEREAS, the Council further finds that Hunt has not paid for the water bill at said property for many months, the last payment being made on 3/31/2013, and for that reason finds that the credit should be granted subject to the full payment of the balance on this account within thirty (30) days of the approval of this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby waive a portion of the Sewer billing on the Hunt account at 430 N. Cedar Street in the amount of $303.30, so long as the entire remaining combined utility account balance is paid in full to the City within thirty (30) days of the approval of this Resolution.
