IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-54
Resolution to approve hiring of Denco Highway Construction Corp. to perform Bridge Deck Repairs to S. Main Street Bridge Deck.
WHEREAS, the County Bridge Inspector, Mark Stoneking, identified issues with the South Main Street Bridge, near the intersection of S. Main Street and S. Cedar Street, that in his opinion require maintenance, and
WHEREAS, the City has obtained a bid from Denco Highway Construction Corp., a company with which the County has had good experiences, in the amount of $11,581.00 to repair approximately 98.31 square feet of bridge decking, the bid reflecting a reduced cost of $2,000 due to the fact that Denco will be in the County working on a number of County bridges, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the costs of repairing the bridge will lengthen its life and that the costs of repair are far exceeded by the costs of replacement, and that, therefore, the project should be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct the City Administrator to hire Denco Highway Construction Corp. to perform the necessary bridge repairs as noted in the project quotation, specified at 98.31 square feet of repairs at a lump sum cost of $11,581.
