IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #15-41
Resolution awarding ERC Roof, Siding, Gutter, and related miscellaneous repair project, resulting from 2014 Hail Storm, to Superior Steel and Concrete Construction.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello suffered substantial hail damage as the result of the 2014 hail storm, and
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has replacement value insurance coverage, and
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello sought bids from qualified contractors, receiving two bids after contacting more than four (4) contractors, with bids being received in the following amounts from the following contractors:
Superior Steel and Concrete Construction: Total $67,920.00
Barnhart Construction: Total $75,864.75
– and –
WHEREAS, The Council has reviewed the bids and finds that the bid received from Superior Steel and Concrete Construction in the amount of $67,920 should be accepted with a contract to be entered between Superior and the City of Monticello for the following repairs:
Roof: Labor $19,900.00 Superior Steel
Materials $27,200.00 Five Star Buildings
Side Wall West: Labor $5,600.00 Superior Steel
Materials $6,021.00 Five Star Buildings
Side Wall North: Labor $4,200.00 Superior Steel(Optional) Materials $4,999.00 Five Star Buildings
Total: $67,920.00 Project Total
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby accept the bids and award the Emergency Response Center hail storm repair project to Superior Steel and Concrete Construction in the bid amount of $58,721.00, subject to the approval of same by the City of Monticello insurance carrier, the approval of same to be sought and verified by the City Administrator before proceeding with the project.
