IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #16-122
Resolution to approve purchase of 2016 Dodge Charger Police Patrol Vehicle.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello Police Department owned and operated a 2012 Dodge Charger patrol vehicle that suffered significant damage in a high speed chase recently in Monticello, and
WHEREAS, The City insurance carrier has determined the vehicle to be a total loss, leaving the City two options, one being to buy back and repair the vehicle, the other being to accept a pay out from the insurance company and apply those proceeds towards a new vehicle, and
WHEREAS, The City Council has considered both options and has determined it to be in the best interests of the department and the City to acquire a new vehicle, specifically a 2016 Dodge Charger, applying the insurance proceeds to said vehicle purchase and funding the balance with other City funds, said funds to be transferred from general fund cash to cover the additional expense, with the Police Dpt. Budgets to be appropriately amended to reflect said purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct the Chief of Police to move forward with the purchase and equipping of the 2016 Dodge Charger as proposed.
