IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 16-14
Resolution to approve Repair and Upgrade to South Well
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello has hired Cahoy Well to inspect the South Well, to perform certain limited repairs, and to provide advice to the City on potential additional efforts or steps that may extend the life and productivity of the South Well, and
WHEREAS, The Council has discussed options at the Council meeting of November 16, 2015 and again on December 21, 2015, and
WHEREAS, the Council was provided additional information at tonight’s meeting and has considered all information previously made available, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that it would be in the best interests of the City to spend an additional sum of not to exceed $23,000 to remove sediment from the well, on top of the $17,000 necessary to maintain and repair the well to allow it to continue in operation, finding that the removal of sediment from the well will extend the life of the well for a significant number of years and that the Council does not find that data presently available suggest the need for a new well, at significant cost, at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize staff to contract with Cahoy Well to maintain and repair the S. Well as presented, including the removal of sediment from the bottom of the well as discussed, the maintenance/repair not to exceed $17,000 and the sediment removal process not to exceed $23,000.
