IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has been working with the City Engineer to come up with a plan related to the installation of a Sanitary Sewer Main along Hwy. 38 N. a/k/a North Cedar Street, to serve a number of homes located in that area that are currently served by a septic tank / system of one kind or another, and

WHEREAS, One of the property owners was recently told by the Jones County Board of Health to not allow the home to be occupied until the home came into compliance, and

WHEREAS, The home owner later believed that since the City was working on a sanitary sewer extension to remedy the problem that the home could be occupied, and

WHEREAS, The City wishes to confirm with the County Board of Health that work is underway on planning or designing the desired sanitary sewer main extension, and

WHEREAS, The City has been informed that the property owners along this stretch desire that a new Sanitary main be installed and will grant the City all necessary easements and will further agree to connect and to appropriately close or abandon all existing private septic systems, and

WHEREAS, The City Council finds that homes served by the City Sanitary Sewer system versus private septic systems are in the best interests of the City.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 18th day of April, 2016 that the City is moving forward with planning the extension of the City Sanitary Sewer main from the area of 10th Street south, along the east side of N. Cedar Street, to serve those properties located within that area that are not currently connected to the City sewer system, based upon the understanding that all of said properties will then connect to the City Sewer and will abandon existing septic systems.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal for the City of Monticello, Iowa to be affixed.  Done this 18th day of April, 2016.
