IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #18-31
Resolution to approve Iowa Brownfield Redevelopment Program Community Assistance Grant Agreement between the City of Monticello and the IDNR with regard to a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the property located at
103 W. 1st Street, Monticello, Iowa.
WHEREAS, The City Council previously authorized the purchase and acquisition of title to the property known locally as 103 W. 1st Street, Monticello, IA 52310, and
WHEREAS, Before taking title to the property the Council finds it appropriate to have a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and further notes that the IDNR Brownfield Redevelopment Program will cover the costs of said assessment so long as said assessment is completed in advance of the City taking title to the property, and
WHEREAS, The Council further finds that the completion of the proposed ESA is a condition precedent to the City also receiving Iowa Brownfield funding to pay for an Asbestos Inspection and to cover up to one-half of the costs of Asbestos Removal at this property not to exceed $25,000, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the proposed agreement between the IDNR and the City of Monticello is in the best interests of the City and should, therefore, be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the City Administrator to execute the Agreement as proposed between the IDNR and the City of Monticello with regard to the proposed completion of an ESA at 103 W. 1st Street and the IDNR’s agreement to cover the costs associated with same.
