IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #18-32
Approving Submission of Letter of Support and Financial Commitment to the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority 2018 Water Quality Management Grant Application.
WHEREAS, The City Council previously entered into a 28E Agreement with other eligible entities within the Maquoketa River watershed, creating the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority consistent with Chapter 466B of the Iowa Code, and
WHEREAS, The Authority does not have funds nor a revenue stream and the 28E Agreement provided that member entities would not be obligated to financially support the Authority but that funds may be requested from time to time, and
WHEREAS, The next step for the Authority is the creation of a Watershed Management Plan, the plan being an imperative and critical tool in making beneficial decisions for the watershed moving forward, and
WHEREAS, The Authority is prepared to submit a grant application to the IDNR, same being titled as the “2018 Comprehensive Water Quality Management Planning Grant”, and
WHEREAS, The Application will request the sum of $100,000 with a required minimum match of 5% or $5,000, and
WHEREAS, The Authority has thirty–eight (38) members and if all members agree to financially commit to the project as described within the Grant Application, each member would need to commit approximately $132.00, and
WHEREAS, Letters of Support and financial commitment must be received for submission in the Grant Application by no later than February 20th, and because it is possible that some members may either not commit their pro rata share to the project or get that commitment to the grant preparer in time for submission on the 20th the Council finds that authorization should be given to the City Administrator to submit the proposed letter of support, a copy of same being appended hereto, setting forth the commitment of the City to fund the cost share portion of the grant, should said grant be approved, in the amount of $500.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the City Administrator to submit the proposed letter of support, a copy of same being appended hereto, setting forth the commitment of the City to fund the cost share portion of the grant, should said grant be approved, in the amount of $500.
