RESOLUTION #2021-84
A RESOLUTION TO SUBMIT TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO THE QUESTION OF ALTERING THE NUMBER OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES AND THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS OF THE LIBRARY TRUSTEES
Whereas, the Board of Trustees of the Monticello Public Library has submitted to the City Council of the City of Monticello, Iowa, a proposal to alter the number of Library Trustees and the residency requirements of the Library Trustees; and
WHEREAS, the proposal must be submitted to the voters at the next regular City election; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the proposal and is in agreement with the same.
NOW, therefore, Be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of Monticello, Monticello, Iowa,that:
1. The following questions shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Monticello at the next municipal election, on November 2 2021.
SHALL CHAPTER 22, LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SECTION 22.02 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA, BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS:
22.02 LIBRARY TRUSTEES. The Board of Trustees of the Library, hereinafter referred to as the Board, consists of five (5) resident members, one (1) nonresident member, and one (1) at large member. All resident members are to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. All nonresident members are to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Jones County Board of Supervisors.[SH1]
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Monticello City Council of the City of Monticello, Iowa, that the City Clerk shall forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Jones County Auditor immediately so that the same can be placed on the municipal ballot for November 2, 2021, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this resolution of approval.
