RESOLUTION # 2026-89
Approving contracting with Midwest Concrete to
replace fire hydrants and purchase a valve exerciser
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello Water Department sought a quote to replace the following three fire hydrants: West First Street at the intersection of North Gill Street, below the West Tower at Celgo Avenue and on Northaven; with the City supplying the materials, and
WHEREAS, The Water Superintendent has received a quote for the materials needed to replace the fire hydrant from DSG – Cedar Rapids in the amount of $11,085.00 for the hydrants only. If a gate valve is needed it would add an additional $1,000 .00 per hydrant. The proposed valve exerciser would be $2,800.00, and
WHEREAS, Water Superintendent has reviewed the quotes to replace the fire hydrants and recommends contracting with Midwest Concrete Inc to replace the hydrants, with City furnishing the materials, at a total cost of $8,550.00, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the City should proceed with the proposed fire hydrant repairs, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve contracting with Midwest Concrete Inc to replace the hydrants, with City furnishing the materials, at a total cost of $8,550.00, and the materials from DSG – Cedar Rapids, as set forth previously herein.
