The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #17-101
Resolution to approve proposed naming and numbering of properties located within the City limits and outside the City limits along S. Main Street between E16 on the north and State Highway 151 on the south.
WHEREAS, The Jones County E911 Coordinator and the E911 Board have requested City input with regard to the naming of streets and the numbering of certain properties along said streets, same generally located on the street commonly known as S. Main Street between County Road E16 on the “north” and State Highway 151 on the “south”, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that it supports the naming of the Roger Stephen private drive as Bradley Street as agreed to by the County Board of Supervisors or other name, such as the recently proposed Bradley Landing if and when approved by the Board, and
WHEREAS, The Council has considered whether or not properties facing S. Main Street should be allowed a S. Main Street address where they side on 197th Street and access S. Main Street by way of 197th Street, and finds that those businesses fronting on S. Main Street but accessing their businesses by way of 197th Street, should be given S. Main Street addresses at this time, recognizing that if and when those properties are annexed that the name 197th Street will be replaced with a City street name, and instead of those businesses going through a name change now and then again upon annexation, it made more sense to give them a S. Main Street address, and
WHEREAS, The Council also considered those properties lying south of State Highway 151, and what the best and most appropriate street name should be applied to those properties, and decided that the City shelter located just south of the State Highway should be given a S. Main Street address with all properties to the south thereof, on the other side of the Kitty Creek bridge, continue to be have the X44 Amber Road address.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby recommend to the Jones County E911 Board that the Roger Stephen private drive be renamed Bradley Street, or other name as approved by the Board of Supervisors, that those properties fronting on S. Main Street, but siding and accessing S. Main Street by way of 197th Street be given S. Main Street addresses, and that the City Shelter just south of State Highway 151 be the last S. Main Street address with all properties located to the south of the shelter continuing to be given the X44 Amber Road address.
