IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #11-40
Resolution to approve hiring B & J Excavating to shape ditch for drainage purposes
adjacent to Riverside Gardens.
WHEREAS, The ditch running adjacent to and west of Business Highway 151 / N. Main Street, from the intersection of 3rd Street North towards the Business Hwy. 151 Maquoketa River Bridge has silted and/or filled in over the years causing drainage problems adjacent to Riverside Gardens, and
WHEREAS, B & J Excavating has provided a not to exceed quote to the City to clear, grub, and shape the ditch area to restore the intended storm water flow along and adjacent to Business Hwy. 151, and
WHEREAS, The proposed work will not include shaping all the way to the river, but is intended to take the water from the area of the park, passing same to a more marshy area between the park area and the river where it will flow to the river in higher flows and/or will seep away during dry times, and
WHEREAS, The installation of storm sewers related to the 2nd Street projects will likely feed a somewhat increased amount of storm water to this area, and before that occurs it makes sense to clean this drainage way of debris and obstructions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the hiring of B & J Excavating to perform the project identified above and within the attached bid, with the total project cost not to exceed $3,514.00.
