RESOLUTION NO. 2026-104
Adopting the Official City Flag for
The City of Monticello
WHEREAS, the City has never designated an official flag for the City of Monticello, County of Jones, State of Iowa, and
WHEREAS, adoption of an official flag would signify the importance and stability of the municipality and generate pride among the citizens of Monticello;
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Monticello, Iowa, on this 15th day of June, 2026, by the approval of this Resolution, as follows:
- That the Official City Flag of the City of Monticello, shall consist of the City logo with “Founded, 1836” centered on a white field;
- That all City officials and employees shall have the right to use the official Flag for official City matters, and within the scope of their responsibilities as officials and employees. The City flag shall be used only in conjunction with City buildings, functions, and events, except citizens may fly the flag if it is purchased from the city or from a manufacturer officially licensed by the city. All officials, staff and citizens shall observe the rules of flag etiquette observed when flying with the United States or Iowa flags.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the City of Monticello, Iowa to be affixed hereto. Done this 15th day of June, 2026.
