IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 11-67
Approving submission of the proposed Airport Vertical infrastructure Grant Application and Pavement Maintenance Grant Application and Certifying availability
of proposed matching funds.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello is the owner of the Monticello Regional Airport, and
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has supported major improvements and continued maintenance and renovation at/to the Monticello Regional Airport throughout the years, and
WHEREAS, The Airport has been the recipient of various donations, and
WHEREAS, The IDOT Aviation Division has funding available for distribution by way of a competitive “Vertical Infrastructure” grant application, and
WHEREAS, Said Grant Application has been prepared for submission, the City seeking funds related to improvements to the current FBO building being acquired by the City as part of the AIP Terminal Building Project, the State share being sought at the rate of 65% or $67,030.60, and the City share being 35% or $36,093.40, and
WHEREAS, the bids have been let on the Terminal Building project, and it is anticipated that a bid will be awarded at the City Council meeting of June 6, 2011, and
WHEREAS, The Terminal Building is being attached to the FBO building, and the FBO building is in need of attention, from roofing, to siding/sheeting, to insulation, and the best time to see to those improvements is during the construction of the terminal building, not only because of the increased likelihood of improved bids, but also due to the ability to match “lots” of steel to ensure color consistency from the terminal building to the newly acquired building formerly owned by Monticello Aviation (FBO), and
WHEREAS, the City has funds available to meet the City obligation herein, however, the acquisition of the FBO Building, and this improvement project, is contingent upon the City awarding a bid and entering a contract related to the Terminal Building Project, all of which is anticipated to happen in June, 2011, and
WHEREAS, the City hereby certifies the availability of funding for the City share of this project should the terminal building and funding related thereto come together through the bid process in June, 2011, and
WHEREAS, the City has also reviewed the Pavement Maintenance Application related to annual crack sealing consistent with the pavement maintenance plan, and approves of the 30% City Cost share and certifies the availability of City funds for that purpose within the annual operating budget of the Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of the submission of the proposed Airport Vertical Infrastructure Grant Application and certifies that funds will be available to provide for the suggested local match of approximately $36,093.40, should the terminal building and funding related thereto come together through the bid process in June, 2011, and further resolves that the Pavement Maintenance Application is also approved for submission and certifies that the City share, in the amount of $1,500 (30%) is available and budgeted within the annual airport operating budget.
