IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #12-116
Resolution to request Abatement of accrued taxes related to the property located at and otherwise identified, for tax purposes, as 20373 Hwy. 38, South
Tax Parcel # MONCO 0226300905.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello is the owner of the property located at 20373 Hwy. 38, South, also identified by Tax Parcel # MONCO 0226300905, same previously owned by Monticello Aviation, and
WHEREAS, That the City acquired the building by Bill of Sale dated 6/30/2011, and taxes that accrue from and after 7/1/2011 should be abated based upon the City ownership of same, and
WHEREAS, The prior owner, Monticello Aviation, has paid all taxes that accrued through 6/30/2011, and
WHEREAS, The building purchased by the City is located on the grounds of the Monticello Airport and is attached to and part and parcel of the Airport Terminal Building and Monticello Aviation, owned and operated by the Monticello Airport Manager, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds it appropriate, under the circumstances, to request the abatement of taxes that have accrued from and including July 1, 2011, the date on which the City acquired the property, whether yet due or not, and to so inform the County Treasurer so that formal approval of this request for abatement may be taken by the County Board of Supervisors as required by the Iowa Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct the City Clerk to inform the County Treasurer of the decision of the City Council to formally request the abatement of all real estate taxes that have accrued from and including July 1, 2011, or that may accrue in the future, on the property located at 20373 Hwy. 38, South, also identified by Tax I.D. # MONCO 0226300905, by the County Board of Supervisors as required by the Iowa Code.
