IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #12-61
Approving “Towerview” site for installation of
Monticello Emergency Services Tower
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello, Iowa is an incorporated City within Jones County, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, A communications tower utilized by the Monticello Emergency Services Departments was damaged during the July, 2011 windstorm, and efforts have been underway since that time to work with the City insurance carrier to repair or replace the damaged tower, and
WHEREAS, The Insurance Company has determined that tower replacement is the only viable option and, in making that determination, has further determined that the current site of the tower is not of a sufficient size to accommodate the replacement tower under modern day standards, and
WHEREAS, The Ambulance Director has, with the assistance of Radio Communications personnel, identified a replacement site near Towerview Court in Monticello, said site being City owned property on which is located a City well, and
WHEREAS, It has been determined that the Towerview site would be a quality replacement location due to the ability of the site to provide the best overall coverage to the Monticello area, and
WHEREAS, The City insurance carrier has tentatively approved the site, subject to a complete soil analysis to ensure that the tower can safely, and consistent with existing regulations be constructed at that site.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the Towerview location for the placement of the new Emergency Services Communication Tower subject to qualifying soil sample results.
