The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-118
Resolution to waive portion of Sewer bill related to water usage at 611 S. Sycamore Street, Monticello, IA.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that Kris Smith experienced a much higher than normal water/sewer billing when the meter at 611 S. Sycamore was read on 8/7/2014 and 9/9/2014, using 39,000 and 24,000 gallons of water, respectively, during those two time frames when normal or average usage is 9,700 gallons, and
WHEREAS, it has been reported that the substantial increase in water usage was related to a leaky outside water spigot, and that same has not been repaired by the landlord/property owner, Rob Hunt, with said leaky water running into the lawn, therefore not entering the sanitary sewer system and not being treated at the Monticello Sewage Treatment Facility, and
WHEREAS, based upon the fact that the leaking water did not receive treatment at the sewage treatment facility, the Council finds it appropriate to waive that portion of the sewer billing that exceeds the normal and customary sewer usage by Smith, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the normal sewer usage billing for Smith should be based upon the usage of 9,700 gallons of water, resulting in a credit, for the two reading periods in question totaling $262.48, in excess of the minimum credit amount previously established by the City Council in the amount of $100.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby waive a portion of the Sewer billing on the Smith account related to the property located at 611 S. Sycamore Street in the amount of $262.48.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the City of Monticello, Iowa to be affixed hereto. Done this 17th day of July, 2014.
