The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-119
Resolution to waive portion of Sewer bill related to water usage at 329 W. 1st Street, Monticello, IA.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that Ryan and Morgan Stogdill experienced a much higher than normal water/sewer billing when the meter at 329 W. 1st Street was read on 10/7/2014 using 44,000 when normal or average usage has been determined to be approximately 5,000 gallons, and
WHEREAS, it has been reported that the substantial increase in water usage was related to a outside water spigot left open and running, probably being turned on by a toddler, with said water running into the lawn, therefore not entering the sanitary sewer system and not being treated at the Monticello Sewage Treatment Facility, and
WHEREAS, based upon the fact that the leaking water did not receive treatment at the sewage treatment facility, the Council finds it appropriate to waive that portion of the sewer billing that exceeds the normal and customary sewer usage by Stogdill, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the normal sewer usage billing for Stogdill should be based upon the usage of 5,000 gallons of water, resulting in a credit, for the reading period in question totaling $233.98, in excess of the minimum credit amount previously established by the City Council in the amount of $100.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby waive a portion of the Sewer billing on the Stogdill account related to the property located at 329 W. 1st Street in the amount of $233.98.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the City of Monticello, Iowa to be affixed hereto. Done this 17th day of July, 2014.
