IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-35
Resolution to authorize Jones County Fair to renovate and add on to Park Shelter.
WHEREAS, The Jones County Fair Board, through the Fair Manager, John Harms, has approached the City and requested permission to renovate the Park Shelter that houses the beer tent and stage during the Fair, and
WHEREAS, The general proposal is to extend the shelter by 14’ with the 14’ extension being comprised of a stage, 20” above the existing floor, the stage to be enclosed on three sides with exterior steel siding and treated/painted interior walls, with a small non-enclosed area of the addition to be used as a loading dock, with all roof structure “red steel” to be removed, sand blasted and painted with new steel roofing to be installed over the entire shelter, all at no cost to the City, with the work to be overseen by John Monk and Steve Monk Construction Companies, and
WHEREAS, The Fair desires to move as quickly on this project as possible to ensure completion for as much of the summer season as is possible in advance of and after the Fair, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the proposed improvements are in the best interest of the City and the Fair and will add value to the shelter.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the proposed renovation to the Park Shelter as proposed by the Jones County Fair Board.
