IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-36
Resolution to authorize purchase of LED Conversion Kits
for City owned period lighting.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello owns a number of period light fixtures located on E. 1st Street and S. Cedar Street, all of which utilize High Pressure Sodium lighting, and
WHEREAS, The Council has been advised that LED Conversions area available for these fixtures, from two separate suppliers, at a total cost of $40,072.10, and finds that the payback on the investment, from an electricity savings standpoint, would happen very quickly, as quickly as 2-3 years according to the Sternberg estimate, and
WHEREAS, The Council further finds that the City would be eligible for an Alliant Energy rebate in some amount and acknowledges their understanding that the Rebate request/review is underway, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that it is in the best interest of the City to proceed with the conversion of City owned light fixtures from High Pressure Sodium to LED and finds that the conversion kits should be ordered forthwith, same to be installed this summer by the City Public Works crew.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the purchase of LED Conversion kits for the Period lighting owned by the City of Monticello.
