IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #15-47
Resolution to request Abatement of accrued Property Taxes on property
owned by the City of Monticello for public purposes within the
City limits of the City of Monticello.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello owns the following described parcels, located off of E. 1st Street, same having been donated to the City of Monticello by William J. Greif and Camela C. Greif, and Welter Storage Company, respectively, same being described by the following Tax Parcel ID’s:
Greif Parcels: 0227129013
0227202018
Welter Parcel: 0227129012
and
WHEREAS, The City took ownership of the Welter parcel by Warranty Deed dated October 21, 2014 and the Greif parcels by Warranty Deed dated October 19, 2014, and
WHEREAS, The City entered into agreements with the Greifs and Welter Storage Company that provided, amongst other terms, that all accrued taxes, whether due or payable at that time, would be abated in return for the gifting of said parcels to the City of Monticello to be used as part of the disc golf course, and the Council finds it appropriate, therefore, to request the abatement of the accrued taxes, whether past due or accrued and not yet due, and to so inform the County Treasurer so that the County Board of Supervisors can take action to formally abate said taxes as required by§445.63 of the Iowa Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct the City Clerk to inform the County Treasurer of the decision of the City Council to request the abatement of all accrued taxes, whether past due, currently due, or not yet due on the above described tax parcels consistent with §445.63 of the Iowa Code.
