IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #15-63
Approving McDonough Real Estate Sign Request
WHEREAS, McDonough Real Estate requests permission to install a sign at their new business location that does not meet all the requirements of the existing C-1 Zoning District Signage regulations, and
WHEREAS, The proposed sign does not include, as a principal building material, one of three currently required items, brick, split face block or limestone, and
WHEREAS, The Council has considered the current dictates of the Code and finds that the sign proposed by McDonough Real Estate meets all other provisions of the Code with regard to location and size and further finds that the sign, although not meeting the brick, split faced block or limestone components of the current Code, is substantially compliant and should, therefore, be approved, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the current Code should be considered for amendment over the next few months so that this issue, and other issues or limits within the signage ordinance may be considered for amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the proposed McDonough Real Estate sign design and directs McDonough Real Estate to submit a building permit application for consideration and approval by the P.W. Director.
