THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #16-65
Resolution approving in principle an agreement to share in the costs
related to the reconstruction of the concrete driveway serving the Golf
Club, the City Park, and the Jones County Fairgrounds.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The Monticello Golf Club has approached the City and requested that the City consider sharing in the costs related to the replacement of the concrete driveway between Maple Street and the Golf Club parking area and adjacent to the City Park / Jones County Fairgrounds, and
WHEREAS, Representatives of the Golf Club advised the Council that a quote was received from a local concrete contractor in the approximate amount of $36,000, and
WHEREAS, The Gold Club proposes that due to the shared use/purpose of the driveway that the cost related to the reconstruction be split three ways, with the Golf Club, City of Monticello, and Great Jones County Fair each paying one third of the cost, and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the project will be of benefit to the City as a whole, in addition to the Golf Club and the Fair, and, therefore, approves in principle of investing in the project in an amount not to exceed $10,000, and
WHEREAS, Before making a final commitment to the project the Council finds that a similar commitment should be received from the Jones County Fair, that an agreement on the dimensions and other relevant specifications of the project should be arrived at, and that a written agreement should be drafted for approval by all three entities setting out each other’s respective responsibilities and obligations to the project
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 2nd day of May, 2016 that the Council approves, in principle, a three way cost share between the City, the Golf Club, and the Fair, to reconstruct the drive to the Golf Club that also serves the City Park and the Fair, at a cost to the City not to exceed $10,000 with the further understanding that the Fair must also agree to the project and that final plans and specs. related to the project must be reviewed and agreed upon with all parties’ rights and responsibilities to be set out in a written agreement to be formally approved by all three parties.
