RESOLUTION #16-94
Resolution to approve payment of $71,044.10 to the Great Jones County Fair in payment of City share of City Park Parking Lot project.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City Council approved Resolution #16-22 on February 15, 2016, approving a request by the Great Jones County Fair to pave a portion of the City Park regularly used for parking between the N. end of the Berndes Center and the S. side of the Citizens State Bank Youth Development Center and to share in the costs, and
WHEREAS, when approving Resolution #16-22 the Council specifically chose to not include a “not to exceed” provision in the language of the Resolution, and
WHEREAS, after approval of the project it was determined that the parking lot as proposed did not cover as much area as anticipated near the north end of the Berndes Center and that the parking lot should be expanded to cover that area, and
WHEREAS, The City has received project invoices disclosing total project costs in the amount of $142,088.20, same having been covered by the Fair, with a request for a 50% reimbursement from the City in the amount of $71,044.10 representing one-half of the total project costs, exceeding the original estimate of $55,000, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the changes and increased expense were fair and appropriate and that the City should, therefore, cover one-half of the project costs in the amount of $71,044.10.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 19th day of September, 2016, that the reimbursement request from the Jones County Fair in the amount of $71,044.10, representing 50% of the City Park Parking Lot Project costs, is hereby approved.
