IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #2021-83
Approving Consideration of purchasing a new phone system for City buildings
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello’s technology consultants at Infrastructure Technoloy Solutions (ITS) recommends the City Hall phone systems be upgrades, and
WHEREAS, ITS is proposing to a new phone system that is based on the internet (VOIP). This will allow the City to add features, provide direct connectivity to the City’s remote buildings (Public Works, Police /EMS, Berndes Center, Aquatic Center, Airport, Wastewater Treatment Facility and Library). It adds a high-quality speaker phone that is cordless and can be used in any of the conference rooms or in the Council Chambers, and
WHEREAS, The proposed phone system runs on internet, the City will no longer have to pay for the phone service by lines, which will be a cost savings of about $320 per month, and
WHEREAS, City has two internet providers (Mediacon and Comelec), so ITS will setup the phones to switch to whichever internet provider that has the strongest service, thus reducing or eliminating phone outages, and
WHEREAS, The proposed cost for the new phone system is $12,482.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of the purchase of the phone system proposed by ITS.
