Special Council Work Session
March 30, 2026, 6:00 P.M.

Mayor Jake Ellwood called the meeting to order. Council present were: Candy Langerman, Scott Brighton, Ben Duehr, Mary Phelan and Dave Goedken. Also, present were City Administrator Russell Farnum, City Clerk Sally Hinrichsen, Library Director Faith Brehm and Ambulance Director Lori Lynch. Council member Josh Brenneman arrived shortly after meeting started.
Phelan moved to approve the agenda, Goedken seconded. Roll call was unanimous. Council member Josh Brenneman arrived.
Director of Jones County Economic Development Derek Lumsden gave a presentation on Jones County Economic Development and requested funding for fiscal year 2027. Watershed Coordinator Erin Erickson gave a presentation on the Maquoketa River Watershed Management Authority and requested funding for fiscal year 2027. SAFE Coalition Project Coordinator Jennifer Husmann gave a presentation on the Jones County SAFE Coalition and requested funding for fiscal year 2027.
Council discussed staff wages and salaries for fiscal year 2027. Farnum reviewed a proposed salaries for staff and some hourly staff. No action was taken.
Brighton moved to adjourn at 6:59 P.M.
