Resolution 11-81

The City of Monticello, Iowa

IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA

RESOLUTION # 11- 81

Authorizing the City Administrator, in consultation with the P.W. Director and Electrical Contractors / others, as necessary, to develop final bid specifications related to back-up electric generation switching at the Renaissance Center, Berndes Center and “Old” Water Tower/Well and back-up generator installation at the

Public Safety Building / Emergency Response Center.

WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has been discussing the installation of back-up electric generation for the last couple of years, and

WHEREAS, The Council has determined it to be appropriate to request bids related to the installation of appropriate switching at three locations, the Renaissance Center, the Berndes Center, and the “old Water Tower / Well, and to install a generator at the Emergency Response Center, and

WHEREAS, The Council finds that bids should be requested for a natural gas generator at the Public Safety Building site, and

WHEREAS, The Council finds that the City has received draft specifications from two contractors with regard to the switching installations and a bid specification from the ERC project architect with regard to the Generator installation at that site, and finds that the City Administrator, Director of P.W., and other parties deemed necessary, can use the draft specifications to prepare final specifications for purposes of bidding these projects, and

WHEREAS, The Council finds that the switching should be bid as one project and the generator bid as a separate project.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize and direct the City Administrator, in consultation with the Director of P.W., and other parties deemed necessary, to use the draft specifications to prepare final specifications for purposes of bidding these projects, with the understanding that the switching should be bid as one project and the generator bid as a separate project, with bids to be received and thereafter shared with the Council for consideration and approval.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto subscribed my name and caused the Great Seal of the City of Monticello, Iowa to be affixed hereto. Done this 16th day of May, 2011.
