IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #13-69
Resolution to request Abatement of accrued taxes, if any, and future taxes related to the properties owned by the City of Monticello, IA.
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello is now the owner of the following described properties purchased as part of the flood buy-out:
105 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227129002
109 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227129003
114 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227126004
121 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227129021
124 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227126005
231 S. Locust Street MONCO 0227129007
523 E. Grand Street MONCO 0227126007
608 E. Washington Street MONCO 0227130006
MONCO 0227130015, and
WHEREAS, the City collected estimated accrued taxes through the date of closing from all owners of properties acquired as part of the flood buy-out and paid said accrued taxes to the County Treasurer, and
WHEREAS, the City is not liable for taxes on these City owned property from the date of ownership forward, same to be used for City purposes such as a park and not for income producing purposes, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the City Administrator should contact the Jones County Treasurer, providing her with a sealed and signed copy of this Resolution informing the County that the City is exempt from and will not pay taxes on the properties identified herein, including accrued taxes/interest/penalties, if any.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the City Administrator is directed to provide the Jones County Treasurer with a copy of this Resolution informing the County that the City is exempt from any accrued taxes, interest, penalties, if any, and that same should, therefore, be noted as exempt in the records of Jones County, and abated in full.
