IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-37
Resolution to authorize purchase Radio Read Conversion Kits
For all City Meters
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello serves approximately 1,700 water metered premises, and
WHEREAS, The City presently determines usage by the use of an employee(s) to manually approach each meter/touch pad on a monthly basis, and
WHEREAS, The standard meter reading approach takes a great deal of time, puts employees at risk of injury, particularly during inclement weather or deep snowfall, and can create irregular billing cycles when for one reason or another it is not possible to have all meters read on a timely basis, and
WHEREAS, The Water Dpt. funds are sufficient to begin to implement a Radio Read Water Meter system and staff has recommended that 1,700 systems be purchased and installed before the coming winter, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that it is in the long term best interests of the City to see to the installation of a Radio Read Water meter system and conversion throughout the community and further finds that funds are presently available and that the installation and implementation of the system all at once by City staff is the most cost effective and best approach to take at this time.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the purchase of necessary software and hardware to see to the installation and utilization of 1,700 radio read meters.
