IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #17-122
To use Economic Development funds from either the MDC or the
Hotel/Motel Tax Funds to assist with Asbestos Removal at
218 W. 1st Street in an amount not to exceed one-half of the
costs, not to exceed $6,000
WHEREAS, The City Council previously approved financial incentives related to the Urban Renewal and Economic Development project underway at 218 W. 1st Street, Monticello, Iowa, a property owned by B & J Hauling and Excavation, Inc., and
WHEREAS, The developer has discovered the presence of asbestos at the property and requests that the City share in the abatement costs related thereto with an estimated abatement cost of $12,000, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the asbestos removal was not anticipated and that the City would have shared in said costs as part of this project and finds it appropriate to utilize funds from either the City Economic Development Fund or the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund in an amount not to exceed one-half of the abatement costs or $6,000, whichever is less.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve a City Cost Share with regard to the Asbestos Removal at 218 W. 1st Street, Monticello, Iowa in an amount that shall not to exceed one-half of the abatement costs or $6,000, whichever is less, said funds to come from either the City Economic Development Fund or the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.
