RESOLUTION #2026-105
Authorizing the Park and Rec Department to fundraise, plan, and lead the
Pickleball Court project, to be constructed on City owned property
south the current Pickleball Court in Bud & Georgia Johnson Park
WHEREAS, The Park and Recreation Dpt. has had discussions with the Bud and Georgia Johnson, in regard to their interest in a significant contribution toward an expansion of the City’s pickleball courts, and is excited for the opportunity to work with Bud and Georgia Johnson on this project, and
WHEREAS, Monticello Park and Recreation Department is working with Bud and Georgia Johnson to pursue fundraising and grants to help fund the remaining portion of the Pickleball Court project, and
WHEREAS, The Park and Rec Board has been presented with this plan and is supportive of it moving forward, and
WHEREAS, The Monticello Park and Recreation Department, working with Bud and Georgia Johnson, has gathered competitive quotes for the concrete, lighting, fencing and surfacing parts of the project.
The Park and Recreation Board recommend approving the following quotes from experienced contractors delivering the quality and quantity of product expected for the price
Accent Concrete* concrete work $ 29,945.00
McCallister Electric* lighting $ 25,283.39
Heiar Fencing fencing $ 11,672.69
Tennis Services of Iowa surfacing* $ 19,935.00
* lower quotes were not equivalent to the quote selected
WHEREAS, The City Council finds it appropriate and in the best interests of the City to approve the quotes for the Pickleball Court Project so the project can keep moving forward.
WHEREAS, The City Council affirms its support for the project and project location as noted above, and further finds that the assistance and involvement of Park and Recreation staff, should be approved,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the Parks and Recreation Department to fundraise, plan, and lead the Pickleball Court project, the pickleball to be constructed on City owned property south the current Pickleball Court in Bud & Georgia Johnson Park.
