THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #10-128
Resolution confirming support for the Iowa Living Roadways Community Visioning Grant Application, authorizing its preparation and submission, and further authorizing the Mayor and City Administrator to execute a letter on behalf of the City
supporting said Application and confirming the City’s willingness
to commit the required cash match of $2,000.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City Administrator has informed the Council of an opportunity to apply for grant funding to assist the City with trail planning, and
WHEREAS, The City Council, in annual goal setting sessions, has identified the creation of a walkable community and the installation of a trail system to be in the best interests of the community, not only from a recreational and wellness standpoint, but from a safe and environmentally friendly standpoint as well, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that expert guidance is the next logical step in the City’s trail design and planning process, and
WHEREAS, The City, as the local government partner, must attach a letter of support with the Application as well as a letter of commitment to fund the City share of the project in the amount of $2,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 25th day of October 2010, that the City Administrator is directed to finalize and submit the Iowa Living Roadways Community Visioning Grant Application, and to prepare a Letter of Support for the project, same to reference the $2,000 City funding commitment towards said project, same to be signed by the City Administrator and the Mayor and forwarded with the Grant Application.
