The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 11-82
Directing staff to dispose of the 2003 Ford Explorer by transfer to the Monticello Regional Airport for the sum of $4,000.
WHEREAS, The Monticello Police Department has a 2003 Ford Explorer as part of their vehicle fleet, and
WHEREAS, The Ford Explorer has been replaced by a recently purchased Chevy Pickup, and the intention of the P.D. and the Council was that the Explorer would be rotated out of the fleet upon acquisition of the pickup, and
WHEREAS, The Council has considered various options, including the sale of the Explorer on Ebay, a sealed bid local sale, a sale at car auction, and the potential transfer/sale of the vehicle to the Monticello Regional Airport to serve as their courtesy vehicle, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the best option at this time is to transfer the Explorer to the Monticello Regional Airport for use as the Airport Courtesy Car, considerations include the fact that the prior courtesy car for the airport lost its’ transmission and was sold a couple years ago, that since that time the Airport Manager was providing his personal vehicle as a courtesy car, and that we were familiar with the maintenance history and capabilities of the Explorer, whereas we would not be familiar with the history and capabilities of a used vehicle if we were to purchase a courtesy vehicle for the airport
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct that the Ford Explorer be disposed of by transfer to the Monticello Regional Airport in return for the sum of $4,000 to be paid from the Airport Budget in annual increments of at least $1,000, with the first payment to be made during FY 2012, said payments to be credited to the Police Department Equipment set aside fund, and the Council further directs, that to prolong the life of the Explorer as the courtesy vehicle, that it be stored inside whenever possible.
