RESOLUTION #13-23
Resolution to approve Application and Permit to Sponsor Highway Planting
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City has an option to allow the DOT to determine and plant trees and potentially shrubs/bushes along the Hwy. 151 bypass or the City can apply for DOT money and manage and design, subject to DOT approval, the planting types and locations, and
WHEREAS, The available funding to the City is approx. $100,000 per year for a number of years, up to as many as ten, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the use of local volunteers to design the project creates a unique opportunity for the City to create an entryway like no other, and that the City should authorize the submission of the proposed Grants, one for this FY and one for the next, and
WHEREAS, The Council recognizes that in the event of a grant award the City would be required to follow Iowa bidding laws as well as relevant DOT rules and regulations.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 18th day of February, 2013, that the Application and Permit to Sponsor Highway Plantings for FY ’13 and FY ’14 are hereby approved.
