The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-41
Resolution to authorize entry into agreement with Midland GIS to collect GIS Data in the City of Monticello and convert it to a digital map/GIS.
WHEREAS, The City Council previously bonded the sum of $60,000, a sum estimated to cover the costs of the collection of data on City infrastructure to be used to establish a GIS “digital” system or record for City staff to use when looking for and/or planning in relation to said City infrastructure, and
WHEREAS, That City sought proposals from a number of firms offering GIS services and received three proposals, one from HR Green, one from Schneider Corporation, and one from Midland GIS Solutions, and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Director and the City Administrator carefully reviewed the proposals and followed up with the representatives of said companies with questions related to their respective proposal, and based upon that review and follow-up have recommended that the City enter into an agreement with Midland GIS Solutions to collect the desired data and to create a GIS site for the City’s use, and
WHEREAS, The Council has been advised that the GIS project, including the acquisition of a GPS collection device, will cost in the neighborhood of $70,000, or approximately $10,000 more than the funds presently set aside for this purpose and finds that any overage, above and beyond the $60,000 bonded for this project, should be divided equally between the Water, Sewer, and Storm Sewer operating funds, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the creation of a GIS Site to set out and manage the details of the City infrastructure is a great tool for future planning, maintenance and use of our systems, and that the recommendation of the PW Director and the City Administrator should be followed, with the understanding that a formal agreement will be entered on behalf of the City, same to be signed by the Mayor on behalf of the City Council.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby authorize the entry into an agreement for services by and between the City of Monticello and Midland GIS Solutions, consistent with the terms previously set forth herein, and directs the Mayor to execute the same on behalf of the City of Monticello.
