IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #12-79
Resolution to increase General Fund Appropriation to Monticello Public Library
during upcoming Fiscal Year 2013
WHEREAS, the Library Board has determined, based upon survey data and other public input, that expanded library hours are desired by the public, and
WHEREAS, the Library Board has proposed various work schedules to provide coverage for the expanded hours, and
WHEREAS, The Council, Library Board, and City Staff members formed a committee and have met on two occasions to work on a proposed schedule and financing of the increased costs, and
WHEREAS, The Committee meetings have resulted in the conclusion that the library can accommodate the additional hours they desire by adding a new staff person to work 15 hours per week at $7.50 per hour, that with benefits, will cost approximately $7,000 over the course of a twelve (12) month period, and
WHEREAS, The Library Board is respectfully requesting that the City Council increase the FY ’13 General Fund appropriation to the Library in the amount of $7,000 to cover the increased staffing costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of an increased FY ’13 appropriation to the Library in the amount of $__________ and specifically notes that this appropriation increase is to support a “trial” period of increased hours and that the Council desires that quality and accurate data be collected with regard to library usage including a determination of the City or County residence of all users over the course of FY ’13 for consideration during the FY ’14 budget season.
